Initial Contact
I will arrange a visit at no charge, enabling us to clarify certain key issues such as the garden size, location and your broad objectives, if we are happy the Garden Design process can proceed.

Stage 1 Consultation
This is the beginning of the design process, an informal meeting to discuss further your ideas and vision, to look around and gain a feel for your garden, discuss detail about your likes and dislikes, styles, colours, plants and garden function.  I believe working closely together we can build up the important fundamentals for the proposed Design Brief,

Design Quotation
Following the consultation meeting I will write confirming the design brief outlining the requirements and elements discussed, and a written fee proposal for Stage I of the design process, based on the size location and complexity of the design.
On written receipt of confirmation we can proceed to the next stage.

Survey and Site Analysis
An accurate survey of your existing site will be carried out and is essential to enable scaled drawings to be produced before any design work can take place, these will show your house, boundaries, existing features, trees and shrubs and ground levels. The site analysis is undertaken to evaluate the total site for aspect, existing features, views, soil, boundaries, including sketches and photographs.

The survey will be carried out by myself or in cases of large and complex sites I will recommend a professional surveyor.

Concept Design
This is when your new garden starts to come alive, incorporating all the information from the previous stages, a hand drawn concept design shows the proposed new layout, features, circulation, hard landscaping and planting areas. I will present the concept design to discuss and listen to your preferences, concerns or changes to the design before proceeding.

Detailed Design and presentation
The detailed design incorporates changes made to the concept design, leading to the production of a highly detailed and accurate colour rendered design plan, along with perspective drawings and supporting visuals. These documents are presented for your final approval, it enables you to visualize your garden, talk through the changes and discuss detailed planting and materials.
Amendments   Minor changes can be made at this point but any major change will be charged at an agreed hourly rate.

Planting Plan
This process allows for all planting to be considered and planned for, with consideration given to focal points, texture, colour enhancing or screening views, it forms the life and beauty of the garden from architectural planting through to soft naturalistic styles.

The detailed planting plans show the exact location, name, quantities and size along with a planting schedule used for costing, ordering and setting out plants.

If required I can source, supply quality plants at competitive prices from reputable nurseries as well as setting out all the plants and organizing planting.

Construction Drawings
Once the design is approved the detailed construction drawings for hard landscape areas including layout and setting out plans are produced.
Written specifications can also be prepared to provide a landscape contractor to estimate, set out and build the garden.

Building and Monitoring
Construction can be in stages, as each stage fits into an overall larger design.
Arrangements will be made for all the drawings and specifications to be forwarded to 2- 3 reputable landscape contractors, I can be on site with you to brief the contractors and help you select a contractor if required.

Monitoring
On request monitoring can continue during the construction of the garden beyond the design stage with regular site visits to ensure the design concept is fully realized.

Maintenance Programme
I can prepare easy to understand maintenance guidelines or offer a follow up maintenance service.
